Kathryn Callnan, President and Chief Executive Officer

Kathy began her work with seniors as a nurse at the Jewish Home for Aged on Portland’s Munjoy Hill, over 40 years ago. Fueled by her commitment to create home for aging adults, Kathy has led the organization through the transition to The Cedars on Ocean Avenue in 1991, the realization of a full continuum of senior living options on one campus, and into the future with the upcoming transformation to the person-centered Household Model of care. A recipient of the 2012 Rose M. Richsafer Mentor Award from the Partners in Senior Life, and the 2010 Excellence in Leadership Award from Leading Age Maine and New Hampshire, Kathy is a visionary and a passionate advocate for Maine’s seniors

Katharine O’Neill, Chief Operations Officer

Katharine O’Neill has been with The Cedars since 2001. She holds a B.S. from Goucher College  and M.S. in Health Policy and Management from the University of Southern Maine. Katharine holds a Long-Term Care Administrators License. At The Cedars, she has worked as Director of Care Coordination, Program Coordinator for the start-up of The Osher Inn assisted living, Director of The Atrium independent living, and Director of Housing and Communications at The Cedars. Katharine currently serves as a member of the board and executive committee for Leading Age, Maine and New Hampshire.

Angela Hunt, Chief Innovation Officer

Angie has been leading the staff in excellent clinical services and the highest in customer service, all with a drive towards the most innovative programs for our residents.  With a background in physical therapy, Angie is a hands-on leader for all staff. Angie is the recipient of the 2015 Excellence in Leadership Award from LeadingAge Maine and New Hampshire for her tireless work, incredible self-direction and unwavering commitment to seniors, staff and the long-term care non-profit community. Angie is guiding the community in the transition to the Household model of care by leveling the organizational structure, empowering direct care staff and putting the resident and their family at the core of our mission.

Tim Jalbert, Chief Financial Officer

Tim started his career over 30 years ago at Ernst & Whinney, which became Baker, Newman & Noyes. Prior to joining The Cedars, he held the position of Healthcare Consulting Manager for CliftonLarsonAllen, a national financial consulting firm. He is passionate about senior care organizations, especially in the nonprofit setting and comes to the position with extensive public and internal audit experience in the healthcare industry. Tim is a forward thinking, technology savvy, Certified Public Accountant who has been an innovator in software development to improve quality and revenue. He is very analytical and enjoys studying future healthcare trends. He lives in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Susan Dionne-Jones, Vice President of Nursing

Susan Dionne-Jones, RN, MSN has had a 38-year career in nursing, and has been with The Cedars since 2008. She holds a B.S. in Nursing from St. Joseph’s College and a Masters in Nursing from Simmons College. At The Cedars, she has worked as Director of Nursing Services, and currently serves as Vice President of Nursing. Susan oversees all levels of care at The Cedars including short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, assisted living, and memory care assisted living. She has been instrumental in implementing several quality care initiatives, services and programs that reflect best practice in the field of geriatric nursing. She has been involved in all aspects of implementing The Cedars’ transformation Household Model of person-centered including education and training, organizational, medical, social, and environmental aspects of our operations.

Richard Borts, Chair of the Board

Richard Borts’ career has spanned more than 35 years in the financial services industry. He has helped to start and incubate multiple companies, including WEX, Inc. (NYSE:WXS), PowerPay, a privately-held, provider of merchant payment services, Clareon, a venture-backed business-to-business payments network and most recently, Paylitix, Inc., an e-gifting and fraud management company.  He has held senior financial roles in each of those companies, from Treasurer to CFO as well as at Price Waterhouse Coopers, Citibank, (NYSE:C) and Cendant Corporation’s (NYSE:CD) CheapTickets.com. Richard has served as a member of the Cedars Board of Trustees for 12 years and for the last 6 years, as board chairman. He has volunteered for the Maine Leadership Institute, a not-for-profit that uses a character and ethics-based leadership curriculum to teach high school-aged youth how to build life skills. Richard holds degrees from George Washington University, the University of Pennsylvania and Washington University in St. Louis.
